The Reading Rush is a week-long readathon that anyone can participate in to try and read as many books as possible! This year it is happening July 20th – July 26th!
You can read anything! Novels, non-fiction, graphic novels, audiobooks, e-books, manga: if you have to read it, it counts! We have a whole blog post about what you can read here!
Once you create a profile by signing up, you can participate in forums, track your reading statistics, check the Hall of Fame to see cool content, and earn badges throughout the event! We have a whole blog post about what you can do here!
Yes! Download the Discourse app and you’ll be able to add the Reading Rush by searching for forum.thereadingrush.com! It works great and means you can update your reading on the go! You can also access it via your browser.
We had to start our website from scratch this year! We know that it’s a bummer but our new website will be able to support many users while still working and staying robust. Unfortunately this means you have to make a new account but the good news is that you can still claim all of your badges from last year by clicking here!
When you complete one of our challenges (see them here!) you can get a badge for our profile! Getting a badge is easy: click here to see our badges, click through to the forum that corresponds to your badge, and leave a comment! Your badge will show up on your profile page within 24 hours! Badges are all based on an honour system: only claim this badge once you’ve actually earned it because you can’t undo that action!

Basically, yes! The Reading Rush was originally named the BookTubeAThon but we changed our name to make sure everyone who wanted to participate (whether or not they made booktube videos) felt welcome! It’s the same concept with similar challenges, just a little bit improved!
The official reading challenges are issued out by the Reading Rush every year as a way to challenge yourself to pick different books to read during the week and if you complete them you get a badge on your profile! They are not mandatory and you can combine challenges if you want to!
The best way to support the Reading Rush is to buy a piece of merch! Our merch has been lovingly made by our teammate Hollie and sourced by the wonderful team at DFTBA to ensure the best possible quality. You can also share our event online with the hashtag #ReadingRush!
